Gabby Remembers
by André Maheu

Gabby is the fictional character that took us historically through the early years of New Liskeard and beyond through World War I.

Gabby does it again.

The ending of his first novel, Gabby, left no doubt a sequel was forthcoming. People became enamoured with the character, and I realized there was more than enough material available to focus on some of his exploits once he returned from the war.

The Lajasette family gathers to celebrate Gabby’s 75th birthday. The grandchildren ask to hear about his antics during his younger days. Follow Gabby through a series of comical and historical flashbacks as he recalls the Roaring Twenties, the Dirty Thirties and the beginning of the Fabulous Forties.

As usual, Gabby has a great deal to say about everything, and continues to run into prominent historical figures of the time. The book is laced with historical personalities that existed at the time, be they heads of state, athletes, actors, outlaws, or artists. Not sure how much to say here, because I don't want to spoil the surprises. Suffice it to say, André has done it again.
