Bill Bramah's Ontario
by Bill Bramah
This compilation of Bill Bramah's Ontario (Vol 5) was started before Bill became very ill and passed away June 1996. It was his dream to see it in print, and this dream was carried forward by his wife Dora or 'Jenny', as she was known to most of his Global TV viewers. He specialized in the off-beat, the up-beat news that gave his regular viewers hope and humour twice a week for 22 years.
His unique sense of what would interest people was unerring. In the scope of his 22 years, there was not one complaint. That is remarkable in itself. He would follow up on stories in progress, and had a rapport with people that came across brilliantly in his broadcasts. This book contains the map of Ontario with the locations clearly marked, and includes the directions to the attractions talked about in the book.
He has his own places of honour: the fond memories of his viewers; plaques installed in restaurants in Bancroft, Timmins, Midland, and others where he sat to write his stories. In Canada, that's as close to recognition of a cultural icon as we get.
This collection has short pieces collected in the last four years of their travels 1992-1995.
