Dymond: One Hundred Years in the Making
Celebrating the one hundredth anniversary of its incorporation in 2001, the township of Dymond, ON, is a dynamic community nestled in the Little Claybelt valley, north of North Bay, Ontario. With a noteworthy history of farming, logging and industry, Dymond continues today to lead the South Temiskaming area in dynamic growth.
We dedicate this book to the pioneers, past, present and future, who have made this township a truly excellent place to live. Any history is a subjective account. The approach to this project is best summed up in the words of Dymond Township Clerk John Telfer at the Official Opening of the Little Claybelt Homesteaders Museum, August 5, 2000:
"It is nice to see preservation of heritage in a world so determined to advance at the speed of light. To protect our culture is as important as in advances in technology. I hope the next generation shares that same opinion because once it is discarded, there is no way to retrace the past."
We invite you to learn about the past and present that comprises the true modern day jewel that is Dymond Township.
