Welcome to the White Mountain Publications Newsletter
February 24, 2025

The challenges go on, and with the outpourings of support we have been given, we remain committed to the goals we have set. The extended store is partially open with the thrillers section and the how-to sections being set up and growing every time we open another box. Everything still looks a little rough but it doesn’t stop people from being very pleased when they find new treasures. We love the smiles that happen.

Canadian Writers' Contest Calendar 2025

The postal strike set back the Canadian Writers’ Contest Calendar and its release, but they are still available and the up-side of it was the number of ebook edition sales climbed, mostly I think because it did not depend on delivery by mail. The call for an Ontario election, especially on such short notice threw the printers in the province into a scramble and upset many printing schedules, including ours. Still we press on, pun intended.

We’re working on a few new releases for the spring, including the third and final book from André Maheu to finish the Gabby trilogy. We’ll update soon.

We have been busy and continue to be busier than ever. In the meantime, keep shovelling all that snow, stay warm and keep smiling. All this too shall pass. We hope all is well with you and yours. Be well, stay safe. We wish everyone a year full of wonder and gratitude.

Gabby

Gabby What a wild ride. Gabby can't seem to stop talking, and keeps getting into trouble, but wait, everything turns around in his favour. Set historically, and accurately, in New Liskeard of 1916 through 1918, Gabby is a fictional character interacting with real people and places of that time. He winds his way through New Liskeard and World War I, meeting many famous people of that time with hilarious results. You don't want it to end. Yes it's one of those books. It's been hugely popular so far. You'll love him too. It's available in ebook formats as well.

Gabby Remembers

Gabby Remembers And if one Gabby wasn't enough, you're in luck. Gabby Remembers has our favourite fellow talking his grandchildren through the 1920s, 1930s and early 1940s. As usual, Gabby has a great deal to say about everything, and continues to run into prominent historical figures of the time. The book is laced with historical personalities that existed at the time, be they heads of state, athletes, actors, outlaws, or artists. How he manages to live to be 75 is beyond explanation. There's a pre-publication offer open for this new book until December 1st, 2024.

FIRE by Don Curry

FIRE Cobalt: May 23, 1977

The eagerly-awaited reprint of Don Curry's book FIRE Cobalt: May 23, 1977 has revived many people's memories of that awful day. The upside of that is they then turn around and realize how far the town has come back.

Sparks of Faith

Sparks of Faith

Speaking of newer titles, we have Sparks of Faith, by Khalil A. Khavari. This book contains personal stories of how people came to the Bahá'í Faith. We quite enjoyed the various, and sometimes quite unlikely, ways this has happened. We think you will enjoy it also.

Palliative

Palliative

Palliative by Henry Kleinhuis. Poems and commentary that ease the passing of loved ones. Perfect gift for those experiencing loss. Non-denominational and easy to read. Not a subject we like to think about, but one that we all face. When we struggle to find the words to say, you may well find them here.

As a reminder to those who have said they would post a review on TripAdvisor, doing so would be a huge favour and show of support (and thank-you to those who did). More people came into the store this year saying that is where they discovered our store. The link is here: TripAdvisor reviews for White Mountain Publications, aka White Mountain Books. We appreciate all your support.
